Bakulan is a categorically specialized grocery store, it is specializing in every products of Indonesia. The current store located in a commercial area of Colonel Light Gardens at Daw Park suburb, in close distance from Flinders University.
The word ‘Bakulan’ comes from the local language which means selling using traditional rotan basket. One of the purpose to open Bakulan is to provide access to Indonesian living in South Australia for Indonesian products and to introduce those products to general public in Australia.
The products sold are original items from Indonesia, ranges from packaged foods and beverages, cooking ingredients, hygiene and daily use traditional products. It was first opened in July 2014 on the busy main street of South Road – St Marys, and after 2 years in trading, Bakulan moved to new location on Goodwood Road. Occasionally, Bakulan is involved in the Indonesian community events and Indonesia student organization of South Australia, and also cooperating with few local business own by Indonesian such as accommodating food catering sales and cargo shipping delivery to Indonesia.
In order to keep our commitment for our customers, Bakulan open daily from 11:00 – 18:00. We also have “BAKULAN” Facebook fan page and website.
Bakulan is owned and operated by Sari Eka Wahyu. She graduated majoring in Finance and Banking from Perbanas Institute Jakarta, after which she was working in Astra International Groups of companies until end of 2007. She lived in China for about 6 years, and working as Senior Data Administrator in Multinational Company before migrated to South Australia at the end of 2013.
